Ritzen Hand-Painted Ceramic Candle

Made at the workshop in Marwitz, Germany, Hedwig Bollhagen’s soya-wax candle smells of rustic cedar in its handcrafted ceramic dish. Artisans scratch the iconic monochrome weave directly into the clay using the sgraffito technique pioneered by Bollhagen in the 1930s, then hand-finish each piece with a transparent glaze.
