1950s Robert Picault Ceramic Salad Bowl

Vallauris on the Cte d’Azur had its prime in the 1950s, attracting pottery powerhouses such as Pablo Picasso and Robert Picault. Picault is known for being a pioneering potter, but also a friend and colleague of Picasso. They learnt from each other in Vallauris, sharing tips and tricks in their specialised areas. Picault’s signature style consists of geometric swirls and zigzags in a rich, earthy colour palette, as well as hand-painted flowers, fish and birds.
